Satellite-derived habitat mapping of terrestrial areas. Input satellite imagery was Digital Globe Worldview-2 and 3, 8-band, 2-meter multi-spectral, 0.5-meter panchromatic. Automated and semi-automated image processing techniques were used, along with cartographic generalization principles, local ground truthing, and ecological knowledge. Within the terrestrial classification, Minimum Mapping Units (MMUs) varied from 1 hectare to 5 hectares resulting in greater details. The area of each feature is provided in hectares and kilometres squared. Areas were calculated using UTM39N and UTM40N. The terrestrial habitat classification was based on the Major Terrestrial Natural and Semi-Natural Habitat Types of Abu Dhabi Emirate, Brown and Boer (2004).

[ "Habitat", "Terrestrial", "Sabkha", "Mangrove", "Jebels", "Barqas", "Wadis", "Sandsheets", "Shrub", "Vegetation", "Dwarf Shrub", "Trees", "Urban", "Forests", "Farms", "Plantations", "Dunes", "Gravel Plains", "Satellite Derived", "Habitat Classification", "Intertidal", "Mudflat", "Cyanobacterial Mat", "Saltmarsh", "Mangroves", "Beach", "Coastal", "Coastal Plain", "Sand Sheet", "Dune", "Cliffs", "Headlands", "Wadis", "Sabkha", "Grave plain", "Mountain", "Rocky Terrain", "Screes", "Jebel", "Mesa", "Burqa", "Escarpments", "Lithified Sand Dune", "Rocky Exposure", "Drainage Channels", "Lakes", "Moist Ground", "Oases", "Farm", "Forestry", "Plantation", "Livestock Area", "Urban", "Oil Industry", "Airports", "Aerodromes", "Port", "Industry", "Leisure", "Roads", "Pipelines", "Disturbed Ground"
}
